GO BOLD or GO NUDE |
Winter is a season where you can literally try on every color, styling with bold to nude, bright to dull. But do you know that there’s a skin tone test use to perform to know your tone for a best to go taste and a style statement? Let me share some interesting facts with you.
When it comes to styling yourself, we go on almost everything then complaining about not looking that good in that color, it’s because we don’t see what tone we have and which color would best compliment us in which weather, yes you read it right, weather does effect styling and in choosing colors too. So, lets discuss this in here, some theories to start with:
Suzanne Cay-gill:
California-based color theorist Suzanne Cay-gill (1911-1994) combined Itten’s “season theory” with Goethe’s “color psychology”.

Her own theory asserted that humans carry information about their personality and style in their natural coloration, and that through personal traits such as skin, hair, and eyes we can relate personal colors to those found in nature. This theory proved to be extremely popular and became the foundation for many color professionals.
Carole Jackson
Finally, psychologist Carole Jackson wrote the book “Color Me Beautiful”, which became wildly popular in the 1980’s. In it, she simplified Cay-gill’s seasonal system (which used sixteen different personalities per season), and reduced it to a single personality per color season. This made it vastly more straightforward for everyday women to shop for appropriate clothes, accessories, and makeup.

See how these people have defined about color, season and impact on us while styling. Now the methods of how to choose and judge, or make these useful.
For changing of hair color, you need to see what tone you have to get best compliments, although few of us don’t even care for the world and choose whatever color, we want or to how funky we can look.
Experts say check your veins whether they are blue or green, if they turn out to be on green then you have a warm undertone and blue means you have cold undertone, and that’s how you decide your hair color.
Winters Color Tone |
- Cool undertone means that you are a SUMMER or a WINTER type.
- Warm undertone means SPRING or AUTUMN type.
So, lets see what we have or how we have break down or mix colors with season.
For Winter Season:
In winters or for the Winter type people, this might help you for/in slaying:
Colors that are high-pitched and vibrant. Frosty tones rather than chalk for the lighter colors. Wear high contrasting colors like red and green, pink and orange. Pure white, black, navy blue, red and shocking pink these colors do magic, especially in winters, try to let us know if it was useful for you or not. For makeup, use bold and clear colors close to your face. Less is more so, opt for one piece of statement jewelry like silver, platinum, titanium.
FROSTY TONE |

This can be too bold and dramatic for a perfect winter night. Or too funky for a girl’s day out. It can show how tough you can be or how happy you are, or sometimes it can make tables turn as how charming you can look. Winters are just best to dress up or to try on every color in the world.
“So, winters is one of my favorite seasons because I can dress the way I want to, at times, dark and twisted look, which confuses people, or too bright which again make people wonder how happy I am, or too bold which make all the tables turn.”
For Summer Season:
Summer season, the hottest season around the globe, some people really enjoy summers, but for few they really don’t. Summer is not only the warmest also the blistering season, it not only melts you, also provides you 24/7 sauna bath which eventually ends up in spoiling your dressing along with the make overs.
All you dressing sense fade away as soon as summer hits in. all those bold looks turn into a soft sensitive look. For these types of days, we got you cover by giving you some useful tips.
Blistering Season |
Use of cool, pastels soft tone colors, for a relaxed and friendly look, no matter which tone you have, you can go with any soft color. Pastels and soft neutrals with pink and blue undertones. Go for monochromatic color combinations, lavender, taupe, powder pink and powder blue, are some more combinations of pastel colors. For makeup or for your tops, whether a shirt or t-shirt, stay away from very dark colors close to your face. Use of fine jewelry, dusty pink, dull gold these will define soft look rather than bold.
I personally don’t like summer season, it drains my energy to dress up. What’s your opinion?
For Autumn Season:
Fall season, a season where everything is dry out, everything is being serene, a time where even season says need to hold on, need a refresher, need to dust out the stuff which are of no use so that new things can take place. Beginning of something new. A new start, is told by the seasons. And its best to showcase your broken side, its time to heal, time to dust out and get ready for new things. A new road to travel. For all these signs and hints and moods, this can be useful.
AUTUMN COLORS |
Colors with a touch of gold, like camel, beige, orange, gold and dark brown would complement the season and you. Avoid dark colors in this season, it won’t make a good contrast to go with. So, yeah even in makeup, use many colors, conveying creativity, mix colors with gold, bronze or copper, that match and complement each other well. Experiment with jewelry, be daring! And keep slaying.
For Spring Season:
Spring is all about exploring, welcoming new things, colors, or chances.
So, try out all the bright yet light colors, mixture of warm tones like camel, peach, golden-yellow, golden brown or light bright colors like lime green, lemon yellow, coral, orange-red, all the left-out colors which you don’t feel right for you or for somehow never tried out. These colors often reflect liveliness and positivity, or at least a hope of something new, a sense of being alive. In this season, light color gives you best complements where as use of red could either emphasis your personality traits or conveys assertiveness. opt for clear, light and warm colors close to your face. Go for big bold accessories. Don’t be shy! Is time to rock
SPRING COLORS |
For spring and autumn my views are almost similar, because for me both are sort of dry which makes me sick, but then an excitement of changing the season and colors and events these season offers are always on high!
