#beboldforchange TO CHERISH THE IMPORTANCE OF WOMEN

Women's Day 8th March 2019
To cherish the importance of women, one day or a week isn’t sufficient.

#Beboldforachange

Initially, women were known to be in the home only, they were bound and forced to do the house chore work only but these days women are proving to manage both the fields and they are making a lot of name for the work they do. By the passing time/As time is passing things and era is changing, the role of women is also changing, now they are managing both the house chore along with the profession they opt.

As we talk about women who are making names, we should also talk about the women who are silenced because maybe they have committed a crime or offended their family by going against their family, or for bringing a so-called shame to a family or by hurting a men ego, and that’s why they are brutally killed in the name of honor.
Let’s have a look in history and a mixture of an era we will be covering here:
History:
International Women’s Day began as a movement for women’s suffrage. The earliest instance was in 1909 in New York as women were demanding the right to vote. In 1910, a woman called Clara Zetkin from Germany came up with the idea of an International Women’s Day. She organized a conference of 100 women from 17 countries so that women could collectively fight for their rights. Thus, IWD was formed. In 1911, it was celebrated in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland. In 1913, it was decided to transfer IWD to March 8, and it has been celebrated on that day ever since. The day was only recognized by the United Nations in 1975, but ever since it has created a theme each year for the celebration. In 2011, former US President Barack Obama proclaimed March to be known as Women’s History Month.

The significance of women day:

Women's Day is celebrated globally on 8 March every year in honor of their remarkable contribution to our society. The day also commemorates the inspiring role of women around the world to secure women's rights and build more equitable societies.

What were the first-time women day was celebrated?
Women's day started off as a wave in the West, to create an awareness of the stigmas that women were fighting from, and it later spread across the rest of the globe as a warning sign. This day is a fine remembrance of that day which embarked the journey of a woman in fighting for equality and to gain respect as a human being.

When did we need a day to celebrate women day?

International Women’s Day is celebrated across the world on the 4th of March every year with a view to fostering awareness about women’s rights and protect their lives. Unfortunately, in our country the day is celebrated, but not with that spirit as it should have been.
To reserve just one day for women isn’t fair…

I feel that this day needs a renaissance, for, there have been a lot of changes in the past that have been achievements to the women. In this age, when women are fighting to be treated equally in every aspect, demanding a special day where only women are considered as a central figure is awkward. I certainly feel that we must get over this one-day celebration or rather make it a combined celebration of gender equality by felicitating the women who've inspired us and the men who've been role models too.
Women play such an important part in anyone’s life, as a mother, as a sister, as a wife, as a daughter or as a friend. Your life feels incomplete if you don’t have such a relation.

Although many years have passed by, women are still fighting for equality throughout the world.  Whether it is for political rights, positions in government leadership, economic equality, it is still an uphill battle for all women regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation and religion.  It is a cause which ignites passion and unites us globally.

Women are still not getting equal pay with some sources reporting it will be at least another 65 years until women can close the gender gap. Women are still being sexually harassed in workplaces.  Women are still facing sexual violence in countries throughout the world, and many have been enslaved into human trafficking.  Male lawmakers are constantly making laws in regard to women’s health or clothing, without women being given the platform to choose for themselves.
Women are still not getting into positions of power and leadership despite being more qualified than their male counterparts.  An alarming example was America voting for the actor/businessman Donald Trump as their President over a woman, Hillary Clinton, who had extensive political experience as First Lady, Secretary of State, and Senator of New York.

By promoting the social, cultural, political, and educational achievements of women and highlighting the struggles endured along their journeys to our children, it will inspire our future generations to be the catalysts for change that we still need in this world today.  We need to celebrate people like Oprah Winfrey, Malala Yousufzai, Susan B. Anthony, and Marie Curie, just to name a few of many remarkable women.

Women are not a thing to celebrate, women are the key to life.

Women who prove to be the best in every field of life, who somehow manage to juggle both a career and a family, never missing a beat.

We should respect all kind of women because no one knows about how they have spent their life and how they have achieved something worthwhile. While we talk about women’s day and celebrate it with courage let’s just not forget all the women who are suffering from domestic violence, or suffering from office politics, or any kind of politics, or the victim’s rape or honor killing victims or the protecting mothers, the teachers, the principles, the doctors, the pilots, the engineers, the accountants, and the lists goes on…

The incidents of violence against women are growing as the cases of rape, honor killing, sexual abuse, acid throwing to cherish the importance of women other violence are occurring on a daily basis. According to research, Pakistan is included among the top 5 worst countries in terms of rape cases. Mostly kidnapping and rape cases are recorded in Karachi and in parts of Punjab.

In the last year 14,850 kidnap cases were recorded which 80 percent were ganged raped, and four cases per day. Over a thousand cases of honor killing were recorded.

Though the authorities banned honor killing and called it a crime, but failed to eradicate it. In recent days, it has become very common and women are not even protected at their own homes then where they can be safe. This shows the worst conditions for women as 90 percent of the cases are not being investigated due to which women are being killed in the name of honor. I request the govt to protect the rights of women and save their lives from violence.

Why is it always a woman who has to suffer all the killings and stuff…

In today’s modern world, technology and social media are proving to be a major catalyst for change.  With all the new trends and hashtags, #apninazarmai, #abfithongimai, #beboldforthechange, #MeToo and #TimesUp movements on Twitter, women were able to support each other in coming forward to reveal that they were abused or harassed.

In fact, on Facebook, there are women, who are making the group to support other women out there. According to Facebook, International Women’s Day was its most talked about event in 2017, generating 430 million interactions from 165 million people.  Half of these interactions were from the United States, India, Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina.  Furthermore, the Women’s March on January 21, 2017, was the largest Facebook event attended in 2017.

This is of extreme significance as 673 events were organized on all 7 continents for this same cause. Slowly but surely the pioneer women from our past are paving the way for a brighter future for today’s women, our daughters, and our future generations.
